the education of a reluctant businessman

Yvon Chouinard sticks it to the "man" with his book: let my people go surfing. He proves with action that a large corporation can be successful while keeping their ethics and environmental compassion. This book is a good read and will no doubt inspire you as it did me. Also check out the movie, 180 degrees south. I know its streaming on Netflix.
"The hardest thing in the world to do is, simplify your life. Its so easy to make it complex. The solution maybe for a lot of the problems in the world is, turn around and take a forward step. You can't just keep trying to make a flawed system work".  -Yvon Chouinard

  1. Such a great book. I love the part where the consultant (I think it's a consultant) is asking him why he has a business and he can't really answer. He knew he didn't want to make Patagonia huge or cash-out, but couldn't say what it is he wanted. His struggle to understand his role and what the company means really comes through. I think I read the book in a day or two.

  2. That movie was fantastic! Check out Hold Fast if you have not already. I think it's available streaming too. I need to read that book, I have heard only good things.

  3. the book + movie look amazing.... thanks for putting them in front of my eyeballs. thanks also for making a new hole in my nose yesterday. another great experience!
