generations of piercings

Sometimes my clients run out of things they want to pierce but, i can always count on them to bring someone new to share an experience with.

sarah schor

Sarah Schor is one of the newer faces around Adorned. She is a great addition to our family, plus she makes top quality tattoos. Sarah gave me this Skin Head Girl on my leg recently. She says funny H's and Z's but other than that she is pretty fucking cool. Check out her blog to see more of her tattoo work and also buy prints.

dan fletcher

Dan is one of my closest friends, the brother I never had. He is getting married this spring to the beautiful Kristin Chase. I am so happy for the both of them. Dan is a journalist, anthropologist, musician, social media expert, model and coffee connoisseur.  I am thankful to have him here with me in New York, he keeps me from going completely insane. Keep up with him via Fletcher Lives!

peep them nippies

I spend a lot of time answering emails and facebook messages about piercings. It gets pretty repetitious, although I am always happy to help out where I can.
I received an email this morning from a client who was having some issues with her nipple piercing. Basically, the bar just needed to be lengthened to accommodate the swelling. She was sweet enough to put together a illustration using marshmallow peeps (ironically my mothers favorite candy) for me to assess her nippie situation. Definitely in my top 5 best emails. Well played T!

virginia elwood

Was lucky enough to capture this shot of Virginia Elwood giving a portrait of Kurt Cobain.

Roxanne and Lina

I have always been fascinated with ears. So many contours, ledges and crevasses. A beautiful landscape. Like a Christmas tree, so many ways to decorate. Lina has both her tragus and inner helix pierced. I still see plenty of things that need some adorning. All in good time.
Lina and Roxanne are some of my favorites. Always smiling,  smart enough to bring vegan treats and of course pleasant to spend time with.

dark days

I am really looking forward to the "Dark Days" exhibit. Curator and friend Clementine Nixon has her thumb on the pulse with this show. Its running from November 19th to January 2nd @ the Eyelevel BQE Exhibit Space in Brooklyn (Williamsburg), New York. See you at the opening reception. -C

19TH – JANUARY 2ND, 2011

EyeLevel BQE is pleased to announce a group exhibition Dark Days, curated by Clementine Nixon. This exhibition gathers eight Brooklyn based artists, whose work investigates aspects of darkness and sublimity. The selected artists represent a diverse range of approaches and mediums, including painting, sculpture, etching and installation.
The concept behind the show begun with a treatise written by Edumund Burke titled “A Philosophical Enquiry into Our Ideas on the Sublime and Beautiful” (1757). The book is an examination of how sensation, imagination, and judgment are interrelated in the experience of art. Burke explains how these three steps- causal relationships, determine the viewer’s experience of pleasure and pain, and how pleasure and pain are represented by the aesthetic concepts of beauty and sublimity.
A copy of the book was given to each participating artist, each of whom were then asked to create or select works that somehow responded to Burke’s definition of the sublime, that is, “Whatever is fitted in any sort to excite the ideas of pain and danger, that is to say, whatever is in any sort terrible, or is conversant about terrible objects, or operates in a manner analogous to terror, is a source of the sublime”.
