collapse

I finally got to see the documentary Collapse. I heard about it a year or so ago and have been patiently waiting my turn to see it. It is about the collapse that is already taking place now that we have surpassed the worlds peak oil extraction. Peak oil is the point in time when the maximum rate of global petroleum extraction is reached, after which the rate of production enters terminal decline. It gets ugly quick. He offers some solutions on how to prepare for our unstoppable and unthinkable future. This is real and it is happening now. Inform yourselves and prepare appropriately for whats coming. I'm considering putting together a screening of this movie to share with everyone. Let me know if your interested.  jcolbysmith@gmail.com
Just to reiterate; we have used half of the worlds oil supply. There is less than half left.

  1. I love your blog.

While I have not seen Collapse, I can only assume the peak oil argument is quite compelling. Especially when it is set to music, in a darkened room, with fantastic editing. However this is something that great minds have been debating for some time now. It is hard to determine who is right and wrong.

Now obviously the oil supply is not limitless, and we do need other forms of energy asap, but I don't think the sky is falling just yet. Certainly leaning, but probably not falling.

I will certainly make sure I see the film. I am also sure it will scare the heck out of me. I just find that when I become frightened it has a paradoxically effect. Paralyzed. Oh it's too late now. Oh well shits so fucked up that it is too late to make any significant changes. Just enjoy the short time we have here. I am also sure I am not the only one who suffers from this problem....

Enjoy your day....and thanks for posting many interesting topics!
