salt lake city

I am about to catch a cab to JFK and hop a flight to my hometown, Salt Lake City. Looking forward to seeing family, catching up with friends, snowboarding, hot springs, vegan food and getting tattooed.

city to city

My friend Dan Fletcher just returned home to Salt Lake City from New York to see his family for the holidays + play a show with his band, city to city. This is a great band full of good dudes. I hope you enjoy watching this as much as i did. I feel like he told me you can download their album somewhere for free. I will have to get back to you on that.

tomas tomas

This is a tattoo I got a couple of years ago from Tomas Tomas, a tattooer at Into You Tattoo in London. I forget i have it sometimes because it is on my calve. Occasionally i rediscover it. I am saving room to have French Tomas do some more work on me. He was recently guesting at New York Adorned this fall (09) but i managed to miss him because i was out of the country. Hopefully the planets will align sometime soon. Might be a good excuse to visit London.

I recently did a short interview with Jane Larkworthy from W magazine about the micro-dermal implants that have recently been getting some media attention. Here is what she wrote. Enjoy!

vegan rose cake

This is a cake Mia baked for her friend Jessie's "golden birthday". I took over the decorations. We coated it in frosting, lined the edges and then sprinkled edible gold dust over it (note my Tibetan meditation technique). Behold the golden rose in all its glory!

Apparently it made everyone shit gold the next day. Can you turn shit into gold? Does this mean i discovered the philosophers stone?

mursi lip plate south ethiopia

Mursi woman with her giant lip plate, a sign of beauty in Mursi tribe. When they are ready to marry, they start to make a hole in the lip with a wood stick.
It will be kept for one night , and is removed to put a bigger one. This is very painful at this time... Few months after, the lip plate has its full size, and the girl is seen as beautiful by the men.
The lip plate made of wood or terracotta, and they have to remove the lower incisors to let some space for the disc. it's amazing to see them speak without any trouble, put it and remove it as a classic jewel.
Sometimes the lip is broken by the pressure of the lip plate. This is a very big problem for the girl cos men will consider her as ugly, she won't be able to marry anyone in the tribe apart the old men or the sick people...
The women are shaved, like the men, cos they hate hairiness!
