hypertrophic scarring

Every now and then people will develop a little red bump next to their new (6 months or less) piercing. Its both annoying and unattractive. Usually this will appear after the piercing experienced some type of trauma like being bumped or snagged. This is commonly misdiagnosed as keloidding. The good news is that its treatable. Below is my recipe for treatment.

8oz of hot (drinkable temperature) water. Boiled not microwaved
1/4 teaspoon of sea salt (non iodized)
1 drop of tea tree oil

Boil 8 oz of water, mix 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt, pour into shallow container (preferably glass over plastic) with wide opening,  let cool to a drinkable temperature, submerge problematic area entirely, soak for 3 to 5 minuets, remove piercing from salt water, immediately (while your pores are opened up) put a drop of tea tree directly on the bump, repeat this process twice a day until the bump has vanished.

How it works:
The Heat will draw any irritation, redness, soreness, swelling, infection etc. out of the skin. The salt will keep everything sterile, the tea tree is a natural antiseptic, it will dry the excess tissue out while the oil base will nourish the skin reducing discoloration.

Keep in mind I am not a Doctor, however I do know more about piercings than your Doctor does. General Practitioners will usually recommend removal and a treatment of antibiotics. If you see a dermatologist they will give the bump a shot of cortisone.

Will it hurt? Piercings do hurt but are very minor and tolerable.

Is it infected? 9 times out of 10 it is only irritated and not infected.

How many piercings can I get at a time? I recommend a maximum of 2.

How long does it take to heal? Obviously it depends on the piercing but 2-4 months is average.

What products do you recommend for aftercare? Dr Bronners magic soap "baby mild", non-iodized sea salt and or packaged saline solution.

Do you ship jewelry international? Yes, we use USPS.

Whats the craziest piercing you've ever done? *rolls eyes

Can I bring my friends with me? Yes, piercings are fun and a great bonding experience. Bring friends that will support you and allow you to relax. Leave the dramatic ones home. :)

What is your favorite piercing to do? I like doing everything as long as the jewelry, size and material color is right. The septum is one of my favorite procedures to preform. Its both challenging and intimate.
